Early Life and Education
In 1979, Ryan Wengart was born and raised in a family where he was loved and cherished. Despite this, he harbored secret desires, such as wishing he had been the first born instead of his sister. He graduated from high school in 1997 at the age of 18.
Meeting and Marrying Elisabeth Adams
In 1998, Ryan attended a Marine Corps Ball where he met Elisabeth Adams, affectionately known as Bette. Despite their age difference—Bette was four years older—they fell in love and were married in the summer of 2001, just three months before the tragic events of September 11th. Bette, who had graduated from nursing school in 1997 and enlisted in the Marines as a Nurse Practitioner in 1998, shared Ryan's commitment to service.
Military Service
Immediately after graduation, at the age of 19, Ryan enlisted in the Marines. His military career was marked by dedication and discipline, embodying virtues such as peace, patience, faithfulness, self-control, honor, and duty. In 2007, Ryan received a promotion as a trainer in the Mountain Warfare Training Center, just south of Lake Tahoe at Pickel Meadows. This involved survival in combat situations in freezing weather and treacherous mountain terrain.
Family Life
Ryan and Bette welcomed their twin boys, Flynn and Tyler, nine years before they both retired from the Marine Corps in 2018. The family relocated to Denver, Colorado, where Ryan transitioned to a career as a firefighter. Bette joined the Denver Health Medical Center, a Level 1 trauma center, continuing her dedication to helping others.
